Shield your eyes, ye who fear spoilers~!

I adore Riku. <3<3 But his KH1 outfit was just silly. .... .... .... His KH2 outfit is just silly, too. X3 But I broke down and played it anyway. Because armwarmers are sexy.

Worn to Otakon 2006. This was another costume that was mostly buying-and-altering, rather than any actual construction. ...I like those sort of costumes. X3 I bought the wig, flattened and cut/styled it. I bought the shirt and sewed a zipper into it. I bought the pants (like, five sizes too big lolxxors) and sewed the pockets onto them. I bought the belt, pulled off some extra studs and cut some of the end off. I bought contacts (Yes, those are amazingly green-blue contacts. <3) and I made the armwarmer in, oh, two minutes.

The only really difficult parts were the shoes and the jacket. The shoes were bought white, and I had to spraypaint the hell out of them (including the laces, because I went to tens of shoe stores and none of them had orange/yellow laces). x_x They still aren't perfect, but they give the effect. I had to make the jacket from scratch, which explains why it's a piece of crap. Haha. No, really. Don't examine it too hard. >>;; I really should make another one... it couldn't possibly turn out worse, right? X3

Oh, and Way to the Dawn, Riku's incredibly ridiculous, awful keyblade. (What is with that vestigial wing? x_x Why can't he have a COOL keyblade, like Roxas?!) That took AGES to make. I cut and sanded it out of insulation foam, then I coated it with glue and fiberglass cloth. Then I threw bondo filler on the whole thing, and sanded the living hell out of it with a dremel. Weeks and weeks, this all took. And then I primed and spray-painted it in two nights. x_x The details (like the eyes and the shading in the wings) were added with acrylic paint. The keychain is a cut dog leash (and insulation foam/bondo/etc for the charm). And the handle is a scrap of red spandex glued on there. I painted the black patterns on it before bringing it to Otakon, which doesn't show in the bottom picture (since that was pre-con).

It actually held up pretty well, considering... the keychain ripped off, but duct tape held it on for an additional day, and it blended perfectly into the metal star thing. o_O; There were some cuts/rips towards the tip, but an artist let me borrow her markers, and it blended pretty well for a nice, temporary fix. I'm just glad the thing didn't snap in half. XP
