Riku Kingdom Hearts II Cosplay by kacfrog711 Riku Kingdom Hearts II Cosplay by kacfrog711
Shield your eyes, ye who fear spoilers~!

I adore Riku. <3<3 But his KH1 outfit was just silly. .... .... .... His KH2 outfit is just silly, too. X3 But I broke down and played it anyway. Because armwarmers are sexy.

Worn to Otakon 2006. :heart: This was another costume that was mostly buying-and-altering, rather than any actual construction. ...I like those sort of costumes. X3 I bought the wig, flattened and cut/styled it. I bought the shirt and sewed a zipper into it. I bought the pants (like, five sizes too big lolxxors) and sewed the pockets onto them. I bought the belt, pulled off some extra studs and cut some of the end off. I bought contacts (Yes, those are amazingly green-blue contacts. <3) and I made the armwarmer in, oh, two minutes.

The only really difficult parts were the shoes and the jacket. The shoes were bought white, and I had to spraypaint the hell out of them (including the laces, because I went to tens of shoe stores and none of them had orange/yellow laces). x_x They still aren't perfect, but they give the effect. I had to make the jacket from scratch, which explains why it's a piece of crap. Haha. No, really. Don't examine it too hard. >>;; I really should make another one... it couldn't possibly turn out worse, right? X3

Oh, and Way to the Dawn, Riku's incredibly ridiculous, awful keyblade. (What is with that vestigial wing? x_x Why can't he have a COOL keyblade, like Roxas?!) That took AGES to make. I cut and sanded it out of insulation foam, then I coated it with glue and fiberglass cloth. Then I threw bondo filler on the whole thing, and sanded the living hell out of it with a dremel. Weeks and weeks, this all took. And then I primed and spray-painted it in two nights. x_x The details (like the eyes and the shading in the wings) were added with acrylic paint. The keychain is a cut dog leash (and insulation foam/bondo/etc for the charm). And the handle is a scrap of red spandex glued on there. I painted the black patterns on it before bringing it to Otakon, which doesn't show in the bottom picture (since that was pre-con).

It actually held up pretty well, considering... the keychain ripped off, but duct tape held it on for an additional day, and it blended perfectly into the metal star thing. o_O; There were some cuts/rips towards the tip, but an artist let me borrow her markers, and it blended pretty well for a nice, temporary fix. I'm just glad the thing didn't snap in half. XP

The Sora in the top picture is =ZipCloudrunner, who was kind enough to let me lean all over her. :heart:

Are you interested? I put a lot of work into it, so it wouldn't be cheap. X3 But I doubt I'll need it anymore...

yes, I am very interested. :excited:
If I could pay it in installments, I might be able to afford it.
How much would you sell it for? :meow:

I need to warn you that I've taken it to a bunch of cons, so it's gotten a little damaged. The tip has been broken and repaired about two times, and the keychain fell off due to the weight of it, so It stays on with duct tape. XD Which actually works pretty well and blends in with the star. But, yeah, not in pristine condition, that's for sure. And it would also be pretty high shipping, I think, because of the weight of it. If you have any questions about the condition or the actual shipping, I can get pictures for you a little later on.

But all that said, I still think it's pretty impressive, not to mention all the work I put into it. XD The price is $150 (plus the cost of shipping). A payment plan would be fine, but I obviously wouldn't be able to ship it until it was paid in full.

Let me know if you're still interested, or any questions you have. Thanks!

0.0 wow, the price is not bad at all!
Could u take a picture of how it looks right now? ^w^;
I think UPS charges a bit less when it comes to weight. @__@ can you give me an estimate for the shipping cost with insurance included?

Okay! ^^ It's stored at my summer house right now, which I'll be visiting next weekend. If you still want it after pictures and shipping costs, how soon would you need to get it? >_> Can it wait until the end of December, I mean, or do you have a con or something coming up?

I should be able to get pictures to you shortly after Thanksgiving, if it can wait until then. Just let me know! :D

I'll need it until March next year so there is no hurry. :meow:

Hi again! I was able to get down to Maryland and pick up Way, so I have pictures for you!

It wasn't quite like I remembered, actually. XD; I actually repaired the keychain, so it's permanently attached with bondo to the rest of the keyblade now. I also added spikes to the chain with air-dry clay, to make it more accurate to canon.

On the downside, there are also a number of cracks in the paint all over, and the tip has a chip missing from it. I tried to take a number of pictures so you'd get a good idea of the damage.

Mostly, all you'd have to do is dab a bit of acrylic paint where the paint is missing or cracked, and most of the damage wouldn't show in pictures. You could repair it with air-dry clay if you were really worried, and then seal it, and it would be fine. Actually, if you wanted me to do any of this for you, I'd be happy to touch it up. But I'd have to charge you for the supplies and the time, so I figure you'd rather do it yourself. X3 It's really not that bad, compared to making the thing. XD

As for shipping - I'm having a lot of trouble just finding a box big enough. XD;; I could special-order one, but that'd be, like, $25 plus shipping. So I may just end up piecing two together... somehow. XD; ANYWAY. Once I get a box big enough (and you give me your address!) I can tell you the EXACT shipping. But the estimates I'm getting are about $80 by UPS or $110 by USPS.

So, think all of that over. Let me know if you have any other questions, want more pictures, or have any advice, and then let me know what you decide!

...You don't plan on coming to the East Coast for a con before March, do you? XD It seems like it would be much easier to just give it to you in person. X3

Aw, thank you! But don't put yourself down. That was only, like, the second costume I'd ever made, and I had to remake a bunch of it! Just try your best, get sewing and cosplay advice from anywhere you can, and have fun with it! It was a blast for me wearing it, so I'm sure you'll enjoy it, too. ^^ Good luck!

I made mine myself, actually! The supplies weren't that bad, cost-wise (Like, $15 for the foam, $50 for two cans of bondo, $20 for the spray paint ... and the chain and fiberglass cloth I forget, but the chain was probably about $5 and you don't even really need the resin), but it took a lot of time and sanding. xx To see how I did it, check out my cosplay.com gallery, where I posted progress pics: [link]

Good luck!

Do you know where I can kind insulation foam about 2 inches thick and about a meter high? Because I can't find any and I see people all over with it and it's driving me nuts!!!! I want to make a keyblade, but I already bought the styrofoam so I have to use that first, but I want to find proper foam or else my keyblades won't even look as good as that! I already tired Lowes and I found some but too thin. When I did find some thick foamat a place enough it wasn't long enough! I tried Home Depot too, but Iasked for styrofoam not insulation foam so I don't know if that's the same lo. Anyway I'm pretty much stuck......

Yeah, Home Depot is the place to get it! It's insulation foam. Styrofoam is different, which is why they couldn't find it for you. It comes in different thicknesses. I think this is what you're looking for: [link];productId=100320343&N=10000003+90015+527397

If you ask the guys for home depot for "pink insulation foam board" they might have a better idea of what you need. Good luck!

Oh god XD; You're cosplay makes me nervous- I'm in process of painting my keyblade - which was ironically ended up being constructed the same way you made it. Theres a long story about how it was our third try, and we used almost the entire quart of fiberglass resen repairing it when i broke it in four chunks and cried for an hour XD; But guh. My pants are kind of shotty, and I need to beg my mom to fix up the wig the way I want to XD; Theres a bunch of little mistakes; but I give it the ok since its my dad and mine's first project like this. I'm about to do my shoes, and i need to make the zipper on the black vest silver instead of black extremely carefully, with either a sharpie or a tiny paint brush with the two days we have left to finish it. I'm terrified that I'm doing it the wrong way 24/7 ^^;
[Hey, this was more of a rant than a comment wasn't it? *apologize*]

Thanks. ^^ It was pretty straight to begin with; it just stuck up at weird angles. So to flatten it, I doused it in hot water, then put it on a wighead and put a bowl ontop of it for a day. That seemed to keep it down pretty well. Then I styled it with hairspray and a blow-drier, as usual.
