Navi: Hey, listen! What the heck do you think you're doing?! What about saving Hyrule? What about the Fire Temple? What about finding all the sages? What would THEY think of this?? What would Princess Zelda think of this?!?! Hey! LISTEN!
This picture is oh-so-conveniently wallpaper proportioned. For a 1024x768 version (which works even on a 800x600 setting, since (with Windows, at least) you can "stretch" it down to the correct size), go here: [link] (and [sheik] ). Especially if you want to see all the yummy details up close. ^^
Drawn for 's kissing contest. (And I even finished well before the deadline! I think that's a first for me.)
And dedicated to because she and I agree that Sheik's face-mask thing is damn annoying, and we believe Link would feel the same. ^_-
I hope I win, because I would do just about anything for a decent Zelda yaoi doujinshi. (If you have one and are willing to sell it, seriously: note/e-mail me.) But even if I don't, I'm still happy with this picture. ^^ L/S is just too adorable.
Lineart drawn (and rerdrawn) in open canvas. Background rush-job done in Adobe Photodeluxe. Figures and lighting effects colored in the latter, and some final lighting and shading touches done in the former.
*cackle* First comment goes to me *wiggles fingers evilly* Unless someone else types a shorter comment and posts it before I do...
First of all, this is way cool. The highlights and coloring ROCK, as usual. And the hair, of course.
And now for the evil criticisms: Sheik's body looks a little too small for his head. I understand that you were going for a dynamic foreshortening, but it almost turned out looking like you tried to squish his body into the remaining canvas space after you drew him and link kissing. Also, because of the fact that we're looking down at the bridge but at the side of their faces it almost gives the impression that they are about to topple off the bridge and into the lava (as exciting as that would be!) /Evil criticisms
Despite how harsh that could sound, I REALLY like this picture, you did a FANTASTIC job, and I hope you win that contest because this looks awesome! So there! Go you!
Well, I didn't smush his body in to fit the composition as I actually had a HUGE amount of negative space all around them after the initial sketch. I trimmed the canvas quite a bit, so that's why it's tight. Their heads aRE a little big for their bodies, aren't they? Meh. Well, Sheik always looks better before I add that damn scarf. Curse the character designers for OoT! *shakes fist*
The bridge thing, though, was purposeful. I wanted a super-dynamic composition, and I wanted the bridge to look impossibly unstable. Link is NOT being a smart boy. Sheik's got both hands and a foot trying to keep them on the bridge and keep it from swinging too much, and Link's completely oblivious to everything but the boy he's pinning. No wonder Navi's upset.
But I love critisism as it helps me see what I'm blind to. So thanks a lot! ^^
And congrats on the first comment. You're very quick. ^_-

Er... yeah. Anyway, I can't wait to see more. I love your stuff. Maybe someday I might sneak in a request if it's not too much trouble.
